- Mixing Bowl and Spoon

Ingredients
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup oil (almond, olive oil, or coconut work best)
- 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional, but it helps act as a natural preservative for your scrub and provides a little extra softening)
- 15 drops lemon essential oil
- 1-2 drops red food coloring (optional if you want the pink color)
The lemon essential oil gives this scrub such a wonderful and clean lemon scent. Everyone wants this recipe as a gift!
Tip: to get the most therapeutic benefit from your coconut oil, I recommend using non-fractionated coconut oil (the solid, non-liquid variety.)
How to Make A Sugar Scrub
- Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix. You can add more or less oil to your liking. You may need to soften the coconut oil so it’s easy to mix.

- Scrub all over your hands or feet in a circular motion or wherever you’d like a little extra softness.
- Allow your scrub to sit on your skin for 3-4 minutes. Enjoy this time to rest and relax.
- Rinse well, and then pat dry with a soft towel.
How to Store
The best way to store your Lemonade sugar Scrub is in an airtight container. We prefer glass containers so nothing harmful leaches into your scrub. If you store it in a clean, dry place, It will last about 3 months.
Also, make sure your hands are clean if dipping into your scrub directly. Or better yet, use a clean spoon.

Hi, could I use lemon extract instead of essential oil?
Hi there! No, the essential oil is important, as it’s not just for the smell. You’ll definitely want to use oil here!
How long is the shelf life of this project?
If stored in a cool dry place, it should last up to 3 months.
How large of a container did you use for 1 batch of the recipe?
Great question. The recipe will make about 8-ounces of scrub, so about one cup.
I made the pink lemonade but all of them I’ve tried the oils are rising to the top and not mixing well.. it’s mixed well in the bowl but after sitting in the jar it’s very runny? How can I fix this?
You can add more sugar if the consistency isn’t to your liking. It sometimes needs a good stir before using to get the ingredients combined after sitting.
Help!! My scrub turned hard!!
Sometimes this happens when the scrub sits for too long. Try setting it in bowl of warm water to melt the oil.
Hi and thanks for sharing this! I’m going to give it a try. Was wondering which essential oil you used.
Thanks!
Here is a nice essential oil that would work well in the recipe. Lemon Essential Oil
Will the food coloring not stain your skin?
The little amount used will not stain the skin. Plus, rinsing after using your scrub will also prevent any color from remaining. If possible, use natural food coloring.
