Recipe FAQs

How Far in Advance Can You Make Decorated Sugar Cookies?

Because they are frosted, you can’t make Christmas sugar cookies too far in advance. The ingredients tend to get soft if left too long. However, if you keep them in an airtight container, you can make these decorated sugar cookies a day or two in advance, but not much more if you want them to stay fresh.

Can I freeze decorated sugar cookies?

You can freeze decorated sugar cookies, but they may not have the same taste and texture as when fresh. It’s recommended that you freeze them for shorter periods to maintain the best quality.

What’s the best way to store and transport decorated sugar cookies?

Place the decorated cookies in a single layer in airtight containers. If you need to stack layers, separate them with sheets of parchment paper to prevent sticking. When transporting cookies, use sturdy, rigid containers to prevent them from getting crushed or damaged.
