- 1 cup of granulated white sugar - sugar acts as an exfoliant within your scrub. To keep this as natural as possible, use organic sugar if possible.
- ½ cup oil - the best oils to use are almond oil, olive oil, or coconut oil.
- ½ teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional – it helps preserve your scrub and provides a little extra softening)
- 15 drops of lavender essential oil - gives your sugar scrub recipe its relaxing smell and therapeutic benefits.
- 5 drops peppermint essential oil - again, this is a natural way to get the refreshing smell and the benefits of peppermint essential oil.

How to Make A Sugar Scrub
- Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix until combined. You can add more or less oil to your liking. If you need to, place coconut oil in the microwave to soften it so it's easy to mix.
- Store in an airtight container. Since this recipe doesn’t contain any chemical preservatives, it’s best to use it within a month or two.

How to Use Your Lavender Mint Sugar Scrub

Hi! The texture in the jars a day later is quite solid and firm. It’s not the consistency I was expecting. Is that the texture you expect?

Hi! So I use the solid coconut oil, so it does solidify a little when it cools. A couple things you can do.
I don't know what your climate is like in winter, but the scrub will solidify in colder climates. It should soften a bit when you take it out and let it sit in your hands for a moment. Your body heat will soften the oil.
The other thing you can do is use a little more oil so the consistency is a bit more soft.

I like to use (non-fractionated) coconut oil and heat it slightly to get it soft enough to mix into the sugar.

I would like to know how much Lavender Oil is used in the Lavender Mint Sugar scrub. It says how much of the Mint, but does not say on the Lavender.

Hi Arlene, good question! When I updated the recipe card for this DIY, it didn't capture all the info! It does say it above, but I've updated the recipe to say it as well. 5 drops peppermint and 15 drops lavender. If you prefer one scent over another, you can adjust them accordingly.
