  • 12 oz. fresh cranberries about 3 cups
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated orange zest


  • Bring water and sugar to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
  • Turn heat down to medium and add cranberries and simmer, stirring occasionally, until berries just pop 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Stir in zest, then cool to room temperature. Refrigerate 2-hours before serving.


  • You can make this cranberry sauce up to a week ahead of time.
  • It keeps in an airtight container for about a week and is great for leftovers.
