How To Make Strawberry Shortcake in a Jar

This time of year is one of my favorites. It’s strawberry season. Red. Sweet. Deliciousness. Here in the NW, there are so many local farms that have u-pick strawberries, it’s hard not to be there every weekend!

The varieties here tend to be some of the sweetest around. If you’ve never picked fresh fruit before, you have to try it at least once. You’ll be amazed at the flavor. They taste wonderful in this Strawberry Balsamic Flatbread [2] or these Strawberry Oatmeal Bars [3].

A few years back we started the tradition of picking strawberries on Father’s Day as a family. We then freeze them to use throughout the year. I love watching the kids picking and taking a nibble as they go along. 🙂
