Goat Cheese Appetizer
You’ll wonder how a recipe with only 4 ingredients, that can be whipped up in less than 20 minutes, can taste so good and look so elegant! Your friends will think you’re oh-so-fancy 🙂
While entertaining guests recently for our supper club, I was surprised to see the kids gobbling them up! See, they do please just about everyone!
This recipe is as simple as thawing and rolling out your puff pastry. Then using a 2-inch cookie cutter or biscuit cutter, and cutting rounds in the dough.
After you cut the rounds, you transfer them to a parchment lined cookie sheet, press down the center so they don’t puff too much, place some goat cheese in the center and bake.
Once they’re out of the oven, drizzle with honey and a sprig of thyme and you’re done and ready to serve!
Tips for Making Goat Cheese and Honey Bites
- This recipe can be halved for a small party. Use just 1 sheet of dough.
- Don’t forget to push the center of each round down. If you don’t, the pastry will puff up and you may lose your cheese!
- These bites are best served warm out of the oven, so plan accordingly.

Dainty little tasty morsels!
Yes! Dainty and delicious! All the flavors meld together perfectly. Enjoy!
What goat cheese alternative would you recommend? I just really do not like goat cheese….
Thanks
Good question, Denise. Although I haven’t made it before, I think Feta Cheese would be good with this recipe. You could also try Fontina. Best, Erin
Both sound great…will let you know how they turn out…????
I will take a pan to go please! I wish…pinned!
Can these be made a day early?
Good question, Nichole. I wouldn’t recommend making them a day early because the pastry dough is best right out of the oven.
Can I cut out the pastry rounds, insert cheese, cover, and place in the refrigerator for about an hour . Then finish up when company arrives.
I have never tried this option, Sue, but I think it might work. I know when getting ready for company having anything you can prep ahead is a good thing 🙂
Have you tried making this ahead?
Because the puff pastry is best right out of the oven, I wouldn’t recommend making the full recipe ahead. You could prep them and then cook right before you wanted to eat them.
My mouth is watering just looking at your photos! Thanks for sharing these at Merry Monday; I’ll be including them in my Party Features next week. Happy New Year!
Argh! I bought phyllo dough by mistake. Think I can make that work in place of the puff pastry?
Hi Nade, I don’t think it will puff up and give you the nice edge on the pastry you want to keep the filling inside. However, I’ve never tried it.
